RCME Community Program
The Rural Continuing Medical Education (RCME) Community Program supports physicians living and practicing in Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) communities by providing collective learning opportunities tailored to local needs.
This program empowers communities of physicians to address shared learning goals, strengthen local health system capacity, and improve collaboration among healthcare partners while simplifying access to educational funding.
What is the RCME Community Program?
The RCME Community Program enhances the well-being and effectiveness of rural healthcare teams by funding collective learning activities. These learning opportunities often include generalists, specialists, and interprofessional participants working together to meet the unique healthcare needs of their communities.
Unlike RCME funding for individuals, which supports personal learning goals, the Community Program provides funding to groups of physicians to support broader, community-driven initiatives.

What Can Be Funded?
Community RCME funds can be used for community equipment purchases, speaker fees and honorariums, physician travel, and interprofessional learning events. These resources help improve service delivery and professional development in rural areas.

Support from Rural Programs Liaisons
Rural Programs Liaisons are available to support local physician groups. They can help with RCME Community Program planning and implementation, identify other rural programs that can enhance practice, and coordinate shared initiatives across multiple communities.

How the RCME Team Can Support You
RCME Community team members work with RCCbc and regional health authorities to help communities implement the program. They support local planning, budgeting, inter-community agreements, and policy development to ensure communities are ready to receive annual funding.
