CMH Department Specific Locum Orientation Guides – In progress
To supplement the existing CMH Locum guide with department specific information to make orientation to the site easier and more clinically relevant. Outcomes - less work for the site/physicians to orient locums; better locum experience.

Improve communication for communities and Cariboo Memorial Hospital (CMH) to encourage physicians, managers and others to engage in cultural safety education. Building on Orange Shirt Day with more local site cultural awareness events to help raise awareness of cultural education within the facility. Focusing on the First Nation culture and education. Develop communication tools etc.
CMH FEI Website

Consult with a website designer to create a CMH FEI Website to provide information of CMH and the projects, in collaboration with the Health Authority to provide graphics.
Environment Sustainability Group

Partnering with Interior Health on environmental sustainability and climate action aligns with our mission to improve community well-being. As a health-care provider, we prioritize reducing our environmental impact and greenhouse gas emissions, including initiatives like recycling PPE such as masks, gowns, gloves, hairnets, and shoe covers.

Physician Engagement Events

Provide meals and sessionals for Physician Engagement Events. Outside of work purposeful physician discussion. These events are the highest yielding attendance of physician participation.
Physician Recruitment

To assist in physician recruitment at the site, allow 15 hrs sessionals per FTE for physicians to use to be involved with actively recruiting potential candidates.
Community Cultural Events

Providing sessionals to physicians to attend community cultural awareness events to support increase communication at the site and between multidisciplinary staff. Improving patient care.
Snacks and Relax
– Ongoing
Provided snacks once a month in the physician lounge to encourage physicians to mingle and increase engagement. Annual amount set by the working group members.
CMH Medical Staff Meetings

Provide regular meeting and engagement opportunities to enhance physician working relationships with the health authority. Provide a collaborative space for ally physicians and department managers to discuss items and make decisions.
CMH Physician Meetings

Provide sessionals for physicians participating in meetings that are non LMAC or FEI that involves collaboration with the Health Authority for decision making.

Patients unable to tour L&D due to Covid-19; photo series or video would solve this problem. Collate/map out a listing of resources in community for patients/providers -examples: breastfeeding, food bank.
Pediatric Diabetes Clinic

Propose a project to develop a Paediatric diabetes clinic run at CMH, incorporating all caregivers into a multidisciplinary clinic for paediatric diabetic patients in the Williams Lake and 100 mile area.
The Burn In, Prevents the Burn Out
– Completed
Three groups will share the same vision- to do something outside of medicine that promotes health while building relationships and learning leadership and discovering what we are most passionate about in our professions. To help physicians discover what they are passionate about in their professions and ensuring that they have 20% time allotted. Personal goals and Cariboo Memorial Hospital (CMH) community goals will be set together that allow us each to improve our professional "fulfillment".
Healthy Staff Initiative
– Completed
Support a team of about 100 clinical Registered Nurses (RN’s), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN’s), Clerks and Physicians at Cariboo Memorial Hospital in surfacing and addressing issues to improve the workplace climate. Raise insight and awareness of where and how culture changes need to occur. Clarify shared understandings and accountabilities for making positive changes. Resolve outstanding issues and build trust. Improve teamwork, morale and communication moving forward.
Perinatal Addictions Working Group - Completed
Form a working group of physicians/nurses/community organization representatives to discuss challenges/solutions with regard to interdisciplinary communication and care of patients with perinatal addictions on inpatient and outpatient basis.
Surviving to Thriving
– Completed
Provide sessionals to physicians to participate in site strategic planning. To increase physician input and be involved in the decision making. Work with each department to identify goals and hire a facilitator to assist with development of the goals.
CMH CMPA Theatre Arts Course
– Completed
Two day, in-person, accredited national CMPA course for OR team members. Focused on interdisciplinary team work and team building, collaboration, problem solving, facilitating healthy work place culture and promoting patient safety. Application includes the two day facilitated workshop from CMPA, evening reception hosted and provided by CMPA, as well as ongoing support for completion of workplace goals by each team.
Physician Mini Retreat
– Completed
Mini retreat for providers at Wild and Immersive, with outdoor team building, guest speaker, children's activity, and invitation to family/partners to join the wrap up. Goals are to rejuvenate, avoid burn out, foster greater connections and enjoy outdoor time.
Recruitment and Retention Data

Hire a third party consulting company with experience with healthcare infrastructure and human resources to: a) perform exit interviews/surveys with physicians who have left the community in the last 2-3 years and as well as all physicians remaining to determine what is working well and what isn’t b) use this information to come up with a specific action plan to improve recruitment and retention in the future.
Meet the Spiritual Practitioner and Indigenous Navigator – Completed
Promote cultural and spiritual safety by process access to the Indigenous Patient Navigator and Spiritual Practitioner. Enhancing knowledge to all physicians and multidisciplinary staff to improve patient care. Aligning with Orange Shirt Day and Indigenous People’s Day and a separate event for the Spiritual Practitioner.
Physician Recognition Event 2025 – Completed
Social events that align with the MOU objectives and the MSA’s strategic priorities. Structured and unstructured events can be held at the hospital/facility or off-site. Event examples include those supporting networking, celebration, and socializing opportunities attached to AGMs and strategic planning retreats.
